Backroom Deals Threaten Our Sovereignty: NAFTA Hwy & the North Amer Union

Decisions that affect millions of Americans are not being made by those Americans themselves, or even by their elected representatives in Congress. Instead, a handful of elites use their government connections to bypass national legislatures & ignore our Constitution, which expressly grants Congress the sole authority to regulate int'l trade.

KFDM-TV News - Republican gets votes when you vote for Democrats

"Friday night, KFDM reported about people who had cast straight Democratic ticket ballots, but the touch-screen machines indicated they had voted a straight Republican ticket.

Some of those voters including Lamar University professor, Dr. Bruce Drury, believe the problem is a programming error. "

An Aha moment for those of you amazed that anyone actually voted for GWB.
Looks like for now the crooks and lawyers are winning, and Americans lose.

Wired News: Under Fire, Soldiers Kill Blogs

"Some of the web's more popular 'milblogs' -- blogs maintained by present or former active duty military personnel -- are going quiet following a renewed push by U.S. military officials to scan sites for security risks."

"security risks"??

Sounds more like an easy way to prevent facts from conflicting with administration fabrications.

Seniors fret over changes in Medicare drug program - USATODAY.com

"It was confusing the first time around. Now, there are even more plans to consider for 2007. The enrollment period begins Nov. 15 and ends Dec. 31, but officials say those who wait past early December could face delays.

The lowest-priced premiums have risen considerably. Lists of covered drugs have changed, as have rules that must be followed to get coverage."

Expert casts doubt on flu vaccine | UK Latest | Guardian Unlimited

"Flu vaccines may not be as effective as people think, an expert has warned.

There is little clinical evidence that the vaccines have an effect on things like hospital stay, time off work, death in healthy adults or even those with conditions like asthma and cystic fibrosis, he said."

Ford Set to Produce Last Taurus: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

"Say goodbye to the Taurus.

After 21 years and sales of nearly 7 million cars, Ford Motor Co. is giving up on what some call the most influential automobile since Henry Ford's Model T. The Taurus is credited with moving America away from boxy V-8 powered gas-guzzling bedrooms-on-wheels to aerodynamic, more efficient cars with crisper handling."

One of my favorite rental cars.

Reuters AlertNet - Governments say they follow U.S. on jail treatment

"Some countries try to refute criticism over their treatment of prisoners by saying they are only following the U.S. example on handling terror suspects, a U.N. human rights expert said on Monday.

Manfred Nowak, the U.N. investigator on torture, told a news conference that 'all too frequently' governments respond to criticism about their jails by saying they handled detainees the same way the United States did."

Well, that didn't take very long!

How to Live .org

"'Bush and bin Laden are really on the same side: the side of faith and violence against the side of reason and discussion. Both have implacable faith that they are right and the other is evil. Each believes that when he dies he is going to heaven. Each believes that if he could kill the other, his path to paradise in the next world would be even swifter.' - Richard Dawkins"

President clarifies 'stay the course' / It really means 'constantly adjusting the tactics,' he declares

"But the White House is cutting and running from 'stay the course.' A phrase meant to connote steely resolve instead has become a symbol for being out of touch and rigid in the face of a war that seems to grow worse by the week, Republican strategists say. Democrats have now turned 'stay the course' into an attack line in campaign commercials, and the Bush team is busy explaining that 'stay the course' does not actually mean stay the course."

Seems to me that the White House is, in fact, staying the course.
The guidelines for that course are incompetence, ignorance, corruption, and a core of unethical, untrustworthy, and illegal actions.

Is Sex Necessary? - Forbes.com

"Fans of abstinence had better be sitting down. 'Saving yourself' before the big game, the big business deal, the big hoedown or the big bakeoff may indeed confer some moral benefit. But corporeally it does absolutely zip. There's no evidence it sharpens your competitive edge. The best that modern science can say for sexual abstinence is that it's harmless when practiced in moderation. Having regular and enthusiastic sex, by contrast, confers a host of measurable physiological advantages, be you male or female. (This assumes that you are engaging in sex without contracting a sexually transmitted disease.) "

BYU Scholar, Sept. 11 Theorist, Resigns

"Jones recently published theories about U.S. government involvement in the events of Sept. 11, including one suggesting that explosives inside the World Trade Center — not airplanes striking the twin towers — brought the complex down."

Professor Jones is part of a large and growing segment of the population that is quite skeptical of "official" explanations of the 09/11 events.

Maybe the ants can straighten out the mess created by we humans.

Dobbs: Middle class needs to fight back now - CNN.com

"I don't know about you, but I can't take seriously anyone who takes either the Republican Party or Democratic Party seriously -- in part because neither party takes you and me seriously; in part because both are bought and paid for by corporate America and special interests. And neither party gives a damn about the middle class.

Our country's middle class is not just collateral damage in what has become all-out class warfare. Political, business and academic elites are waging an outright war on working men and women and their families, and there is no chance the American middle class will survive this assault if the dominant forces unleashed over the past five years continue unchecked."

Silicon vs. CIGS: With solar energy, the issue is material | CNET News.com

"Panels that harvest energy with CIGS (copper indium gallium selenide) cost far less to make and install, say backers. The material can be sprayed onto foil, plastic or glass or incorporated into cement and other building materials. Conceivably, the entire exterior of a house or building could become a solar generator."

Unfortunately, all of these technologies must fight the politics of oil.
